Look no further for a book with romance, well-written humor, great characters, and a brand new take on vampires. Single White Vampire delivers all of this and more!

Lynsay Sands turns vampire lore on it’s head with her romance novel Single White Vampire. The book is as compelling as Twilight, but written for adults. Despite a much more adult nature, the book remains tasteful and has a strong plot. Sands makes vampires her own and gives them new life.

Single White Vampire Plot

The book tells the story of Lucern “Luc” Argeneau. Luc is a famous author who writes romance novels about vampires. The thing is, he isn’t writing fiction: he’s writing about his family! Luc is the quiet one in his family; he’d rather take notes for books than spend too much time with people. He’s almost a hermit, visited only by his mother and siblings. All of that changes when his new editor Kate C. Leever enters the picture. She arrives on his doorstep without warning, determined to drag him to a book signing to drum up publicity.

But Kate is smart and it isn’t long before she starts to match the events in Luc’s books to his life. She tricks him into spending a few days in a hotel at a writer’s conference and a bad situation gets worse when the blood that was supposed to be delivered to him is delayed. Now Kate is stuck with a hungry vampire who just happens to be rather mad at her as well. It doesn’t help that she finds him incredibly attractive and he feels the same way about her!

Soul Mates and Vampires

The vampires in Sands’ novels have their own laws, one of which is that they are only allowed to change one human into a vampire. Complicating matters is the fact that each vampire has a soul mate somewhere in the world. If their soul mate is human and they can’t change them then they are out of luck. This also means that they have to be positive that they are changing their soul mate when they do. That just makes things even harder for Luc when he realizes that after 600 years he’s falling for a human.

The Third Argeneau Novel

Single White Vampire, published by Dorchester in 2003 and reissued in 2008, is the third novel in a series about the Argeneau family. Each novel is the story of a member of Luc’s family and how they fall in love. Despite being the third in the series, Lynsay Sands does a perfect job of explaining the world she created and introducing the characters. Even readers who have never heard of the Argeneau family can pick up this book and be sucked in. There is never a moment of confusion, only a desire to go back and read the first two books. The book is well-written, compelling, and leaves the reader feeling good afterwards.

Great Vampire Romance

In addition to his problems with Kate, Luc is dealing with a pushy mother eager to set him up for a happily-ever-after, a crazed man with a stake, and Luc’s own lack of people skills. The twists and turns of Luc’s life after meeting Kate make Single White Vampire a fast, hilarious read that will keep the reader coming back for more.
