Review of Personal Demons by Stacia KanePsychic vs. Demon Done New
Chase, a psychic counselor promises to "Slay" her callers' "Personal Demons." The only problems is, the personal demons have taken this as a threat.
It seems that radio hosts are a hot commodity in the realm of paranormal romance, Megan Chase, however, opens up a new can of worms. Every human on the planet has their very own personal demon. Every human, that is except for Megan Chase, though she is oblivious to this little detail. The Power of the Personal DemonWhile demons and psychics are a tired concept in the paranormal romance genre, Kane has twisted the story in a unique was that breathes new life into the sub genre. Her clever use of title and characters is sure to have audiences glued to the pages. It seems every person is born with a personal demon. Personal demons sit on shoulders of unsuspecting people and whisper little devious suggestions into their ears. Protagonist Megan Chase is the only person alive who doesn’t have a personal demon—which creates a dilemma as all of her poor choices were solely her responsibility. Personal demons, however, are not the only demons roaming around on Earth. There are fire, earth, water and air demons as well—not evil as history would tell you, just supernatural. The grand cast of demonic characters with charisma galore are an excellent addition to Kane’s novel. Demons GaloreOnce targeted by both the personal demons as well as a soul-sucker known as “The Accuser,” Megan piques the interest of a studly fire demon named Greyson Dante. Dante, a known adversary initially joins forces with Chase in hopes of using her to further his standing in the demon community as they have a common enemy in the soul-sucker, but he winds up with much more than he had anticipated—a somewhat uncontrollable lust for lovely Megan. Armed with her companions, Dante, an unfriendly witch and three cockney demon bodyguards named Malleus, Maleficarum and Spud, Megan marches on to face her adversaries. The plot is anything but predictable.; It out twists the dancers of the fifties. The only shortcoming is the sheer predictability of the love affair. There is no competition for Megan’s affections and no question as to whether Megan and Dante will wind up together. The lack of intrigue makes the love affair a bit flat, but the entertaining characters and excellent plot are enough to make up for the novels one downfall. Kane is a talented author and “Personal Demons” is an excellent beginning to what promises to be an entertaining new paranormal romance series. Other Paranormal Romance Articles by Jessica Gleason
