Darcy, at peace with her funeral directing career, has her world turned upside down when she is attacked by bandits out for her blood and is resucued by a sexy stranger.

Blood Magic, by Jennifer Lyon, immediately tosses readers into a paranormal frenzy with a sexy but normal funeral director, wing slayer hunters, rogue wing slayer hunters, witches, curses and demons. It's an utterly confusing situation for Darcy MacAlister to find herself in.

In addition to the whirlwind of paranormal action tossed at readers during the book's early chapters, the unique supernatural powers and roles possessed by the book's main characters and the numerous forces working against them add an immense amount of conflict to the convoluted romance developing between kidnapper and kidnappee. Darcy and Axel's situation could destroy any and all chances of romance between the two which could turn out to be detrimental to not only themselves, but the outcome of the plot as well.

Wing Slayer Hunters, Witches and Rogues, Oh My!

Darcy and Axel meet under incredibly unfortunate circumstances, especially if a romantic relationship is a possibility. While going about her daily routine, the funeral directing Darcy is attacked by rogue wing slayer hunters seeking to destroy her and collect her blood. Enter the sexy and confident Axel, leader of the wing slayer hunters.

Axel, rescues the distressed lady only to kidnap her and demand she rid his baby sister of a death curse. The trouble is, Darcy has no knowledge of the paranormal, no idea she's a witch and no way to help out the obviously crazed though incredibly sexy man.

Not only is she in the dark about her origins and the raging paranormal underbelly of the world, she's also been asked to accomplish something that even the most experience witch hasn't been able to do in years.

A Sorted History and an Unsure FutureThrough the chaos that has become Darcy's life, she manages to discover her roots and even learn a few tricks of the trade from a witchy friend, but she also learns something that may be devastating to the cause.

There is a war between the rogues and the wing slayer hunters. The rogues believe that ridding the world of witches will lift the curse upon them and enable them to once again communicate with their long lost leader. The wing slayer hunters, however, believe that the opposite is true. They both protect and avoid the witches in order to retain their souls and any hope of survival.

In her studies, Darcy discovers that wing slayer hunters and witches were meant for one another and that their souls were halved many years ago. In order to work proper magic or for the wing slayers to survive, they must find their soul twins and join as one.

Romance and DestinyDarcy eventually comes to believe Axel and even to lust after him, despite their shaky beginnings. She dedicated herself to ridding his darling sister of the death curse, but must find her soul twin in order to remove the curse.

The conflict she faces is endearing and interesting. She is a formidable character of much emotional depth and Axel, despite his tough exterior, mirrors her strengths and weaknesses, but is he the one? She is drawn to him, but is it merely his good looks or the fact that he saved her life or is he indeed her soul twin and the key to undoing years of curses and bad blood between the two factions?

Lyon keeps readers guessing with this passionate and action-packed tale.
