Author Lynsay Sands delivers a wonderful vampire romance novel. Readers will love the compelling story of Lissianna Argeneau as she battles a phobia and falls in love.

Lissianna Argeneau is a typical young woman. She has three older brothers, works at a homeless shelter, and her mother is bent on finding her a man to marry.

A Quick Bite, by Lynsay Sands

She also has a bit of a problem; she’s hemophobic and faints at the sight of blood! Now, being afraid of blood isn’t really a problem unless you’re a vampire. Unfortunately for Lissianna, she is! Her family and most other vampires in the world have stopped drinking the blood of innocent people and use bagged blood instead. But Lissianna can’t drink bagged blood, she can’t stand it. So she feeds the “old-fashioned way”: off of people!

The Problem With the Blood Lissianna Drinks

For most of her life Lissianna got special permission to drink from people, but she didn’t like it. Her mother, Marguerite, convinced her to use an IV. She would hook Lissianna up every night so she could feed while she slept. But now Lissianna feels like a baby and wants to learn to be more independent. She got a job at the homeless shelter so that she could feed off of the homeless and not feel guilty because she was helping them. The problem is that the homeless often have blood full of drugs or alcohol, which affects the vampires who drink it! Lissianna’s mother and brothers are worried that she will end up destroying herself.

Doctor Gregory Hewitt

Greg is a psychologist who specializes in curing phobias and all he wants is a vacation. But as he leaves his office he gets on the elevator with a beautiful woman who just happens to be Marguerite Argeneau. Instead of spending the evening on a plane to Mexico, he finds himself tied to a bed as a birthday present! A beautiful girl walks in and proceeds to have her way with him. Until Marguerite appears and explains that Greg isn’t for eating! Greg soon realizes that these people who think they’re vampires aren’t crazy at all

Greg and Lissianna

Marguerite was quite proud of herself for finding a doctor who could cure her daughter, but she may have found more than a doctor for Lissianna. Even though Greg is being held against his will, he can’t help but start falling for Lissianna and she for him. But Lissianna’s problems don’t stop there. Someone saw her feeding and knows what she is. And he knows how to kill vampires.

The First Argeneau Book

A Quick Bite tells the story of the first, albeit youngest, Argeneau child to meet a potential soul mate. The book is fantastically written and has strong characters. Even though most of them are vampires, they are easy for the reader to relate to. The romantic scenes are well done and tasteful, but the book isn’t all romance. There are plot twists and a bit of action thrown in. Sands does a wonderful job of blending humor, conflict, and romance. Not only that, the vampires in this book aren’t soulless demons or wallowing in eternal self pity. They laugh, live, and love just like normal people with sunglasses and lots of sunscreen.

A Quick Bite, reissued by Leisure in 2009, is a great book that will have the reader eager to read the stories of Lissianna’s brothers. And after reading those, the reader will pick A Quick Bite right back up.
